Wrinkle in Time…

Feb. 29 is Leap Day!  What better day to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time?  Love Percy Jackson?  Love Harry Potter?  Join us as we consider an early adventurer in the struggle between good and evil.  We’ve got extra copies of the book for borrowing!  Children in grades 4 and up are invited to join us and build a tesseract on Feb. 29 at 4:00 pm.  Please pre-register with the Children’s Room at 985-2173 x-5 or click here.

wii Sports for Grades 3-5

wii SportsKids in grades 3-5 are invited to drop by the Library today between 2:00 – 4:00 pm to get some exercise!  We’ll have the wii set up just for this age group!  Bring your friends!  No pre-registration is needed.

Food Fear Factor

The Kennebunk Free Library is hosting a Food Fear Factor program for kids in grades 6-12 on February 23rd, at 3:00 p.m.  Teens challenge themselves to eat oddball food combinations in order to be eligible for a grand prize.  (For example, orange slices dipped in Tobasco sauce!)  Contestants must eat the full portion served and chew and swallow each item thoroughly.  Participants can choose at anytime not to participate futher.  Pre-registration for this program is required by calling 985-2173 x5 or emailing ys@kennebunk.lib.me.us;  Spectators welcome!

If your child likes Percy Jackson or Harry Potter, introduce him/her to Meg Murry, the heroine in Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time.  Then, on Wed. Tidal Pool Trolls!

art by Mimi Gregoire CarpenterCalling all artists and beachcombers!  OK, only those in grades K-6…  Mimi Gregoire Carpenter, author/illustrator of What the Sea Left Behind and Of Lucky Pebbles and Mermaid’s Tears, will present an art workshop for kids in grades K-6 on Mon. Feb. 13 at 4:00 pm.  We’ll use local shells as models, and create our own creatures to draw.  Space is limited, so pre-register with the Children’s Room at 985-2173 x-5 or email us.

Mimi’s art is on display in the Speers Gallery in Hank’s Room for all of February.  And two of her pieces are part of our permanent collection in the Maine Children’s Book Illustrators Gallery!  Take a look!

Homeschooling Group Meets Today!
